As for the local real estate market there is a nice surge in sales for the month of March. Saint Lucie County and Martin County both are seeing a nice up tick in both sales and the average selling price. Due to the increase of foreclosures in Indian River County the sales have increased but the avergae selling price took a dip. According to most economic opinions they are looking for an increase in foreclosure activity due to the new incentive effecting the top 5 mortgagors.. GOOD LET”S GET IT BEHIND US. Get ready for some good buys but be prepared to offer above or at leatst the asking price and they will move quickly. There is quite a pent up demand with investors. PLUS THE RENTAL MARKET IS STEAMING HOT!

Hmmm, per St. Lucie County MLS

Oct. 2010 Units sold 385 $Volume $43,382,053 AVG selling price $112,681.

Oct. 2011 Units sold 439 $Volume $50,381,436 AVG selling price $114,764.

Why use the negative MEDIAN number versus a more accurate AVERAGE unless the author is trying to put a negative spin on the market. Hmmmmm? Looks like the market has increased in both units sold and $Volume, very positively yours.

We really need to help with our declining citrus market along the Treasure Coast. This is big mistake to let this important sector of our economy fail. Florida receives nearly $500,000 in federal grants to help fight mortgage modification scams

We have been trying to spread the word about these ongoing scams since our first seminar with Credibility over 18 months ago. We have conducted 12 seminars explaining and highlighting the various government programs available. Our Power Point presentation specifically highlights how to identify the different scams and how to avoid them.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development is dedicating $10 million nationally, including $463,462 for Florida, to help residents avoid foreclosure with legitimate loan modification assistance and housing counseling.

HUD has allocated $16,242 to the St. Lucie County Board of County Commissioners, the only agency on the Treasure Coast to receive part of the money.

The money will be doled out to regional and local counseling agencies. Florida received the most money from the local allocation, with California earning the second highest amount at $367,433.

“The funding announced today is specifically earmarked to provide counseling assistance relating to mortgage modification, avoiding potential mortgage scams, and assisting victims of scams,” said HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan. “It is crucial that we support these agencies in helping struggling families do whatever is possible to avoid foreclosure without being victimized by so-called mortgage ‘rescue’ companies.”

In Florida, 21 agencies will share the money, including three in Palm Beach County — Housing Partnership Inc., in Riviera Beach; Credit Card Management Services Inc., in West Palm Beach; and Consumer Credit Management Services Inc., in Delray Beach.
